PhD. Graduate Student @ TAMU
Ethan C. Poore
Hi, Im currently a 3rd year Astronomy Graduate Student at Texas A&M. My main research interests include space and ground-based observations of AGN and their time domain variability in both the Optical and X-ray wavelength regimes!
Currently, I'm a astronomy graduate student at Texas A&M University working with Dr. Krista Smith. My primary projects are studying Blazar variability with TESS simultaneous ground-based observing at the McDonald Observatory using the Exoplanet Transmission Spectroscopy Imager (ETSI) instrument developed by the Astronomical Instrumentation Laboratory at TAMU.I have been utilizing the incredible timing capabilities of the Neutron star Interior Composition explorER (NICER) to investigate quasi-periodic oscillations within Active Galactic Nuclei (Paper coming soon!). I am also utilizing NICER to probe the spectral and flux variability of a variety of other AGN targets. My most recent addition to my projects include modeling and probing Dual-AGN systems with Vera C. Rubin Observatory (LSST).

Im originally from Canton, GA. Just a little north of Atlanta. I spent a majority of my early life there until I move to Bowling Green, KY. Where I would eventually finish High school and attend Western Kentucky University. At WKU, I earned consecutive NASA KY Space Grant Consortium awards to help fund my undergraduate research in using the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) to study AGN variability. This led to my first author paper on comparing different TESS data reduction pipelines with 11 different blazars. I would graduate from WKU in May of 2023 with a BS in Physics and minors in Astronomy and Mathematics. Some of my fondest memories during my undergraduate career were when I was the instructor of record for University Physics Lab courses.Outside of astronomy, I enjoy spending as much time as I can outdoors and/or with others. This can range from hiking trails with friends, astrophotography, or skating at the local park. I also spend a lot of my time gaming to stay in touch with friends back home.
